The Jarrah Tree
Deep in the temperate forest of the south west of Western
Australia grows one of the most durable and beautiful
hardwoods in the world. Jarrah (Eucalyptus Marginata) is not a rain
forest timber.
Jarrah trees grow to a height of 30 to 40 metres with a straight trunk
of up to 1.8 metres wide. When the early settlers came to Western
Australia they used the Jarrah tree as an integral part of building
the colony.
It's strength and durability suited the harsh climate and would endure
for centuries to come. The trees were felled with huge cross cut saws,
the logs were taken by horse drawn wagons to the mills and from there
used in our buildings, wool stores, bridges, docks, railways and even
paved the streets of London.
Apart from it's unique durability, is it's elegant warm appearance,
which finds endless new expression in contemporary interior
design.
Jarrah, with it's natural markings, distinctive grain patterns and
exciting colour variations make every piece of furniture
utterly individual.
Native Jarrah forests are carefully managed as a renewable resource!

Marri (Red Gum)
It's formal name 'Eucalyptus Callophylla' grows up to 50
metres high and as much as two to three hundred years old. It is
commonly found in mixed forests with Jarrah and Karri.
The exquisite grain patterns and dark gum veins of Marri is contrasted
against a pale creamy timber, gives a striking effect in
furniture design.
